Export and publishing

Turn raw Markdown into standalone HTML documents, generate paginated PDFs, publish directly to Ghost, and format academic citations.

HTML export

Export your notes to standalone HTML files. The exporter converts wiki links to relative HTML anchors (.html), strips YAML front matter, and injects default document typography and layout styling. Mathematical blocks and Mermaid diagrams reference KaTeX and Mermaid scripts from a content delivery network so formulas and diagrams render in external browsers. Prism syntax highlighting stylesheets are not embedded into exported HTML.

HTML export is free. The action is exposed in the interface on Linux and Android. On macOS, iPhone, and iPad, the user interface provides PDF export; HTML export is supported by the shared core and view models, but no menu item or toolbar button is wired to it in the Apple interface.

Platform Where to find it
macOS Not in app menus (PDF export only)
iPad Not in app menus (PDF export only)
iPhone Not in app menus (PDF export only)
Linux Export HTML button in header bar (Ctrl+Shift+E)
Android Top bar Export → HTML… or Export → Share HTML

PDF export (Pro)

Generate paginated PDF documents directly from your notes. The exporter renders your active document theme, typesetting mathematical blocks, inline images, code fences, and Mermaid diagrams with clean page breaks.

PDF export requires Tessamark Pro (Feature::PdfExport). On the free tier, Linux and Android retain free HTML export.

Platform Where to find it
macOS Menu bar Document → Export PDF…
iPad Export PDF… button in the toolbar (leading edge, regular width)
iPhone Toolbar overflow menu (⋯) under File Actions → Export PDF…
Linux Export PDF button in header bar (Ctrl+Alt+E)
Android Top bar Export → PDF…

Publishing to Ghost (Pro)

Publish notes directly to Ghost publications using Ghost's Admin API (Feature::PublishingGhost). Tessamark converts your note to Ghost HTML, extracts valid fenced ```svg blocks, uploads each SVG directly to Ghost's image store (POST /ghost/api/admin/images/upload/), and replaces the block with an <img> tag pointing to the uploaded asset URL.

Configuring Ghost profiles

  1. Open Settings → Publishing.
  2. Click Add Profile....
  3. Set a Profile Name, enter your Ghost Site URL (for example, https://myblog.com), and paste your Admin API Key in id:secret format.
  4. Toggle Publish as Draft if you want new posts created as drafts by default.
  5. Click Save.

API keys are saved in your operating system credential store. To publish the current note:

Platform Where to find it
macOS Menu bar Document → Publish (⇧⌘P) or toolbar Publish button
iPad Publish button in the toolbar (trailing edge, regular width)
iPhone Toolbar overflow menu (⋯) under File Actions → Publish to Ghost
Linux Header bar Publish button (Ctrl+Shift+P)
Android Top bar More (⋮) menu → Publish to Ghost

Citations and bibliography (Pro)

Tessamark includes native academic bibliography support powered by the Hayagriva engine (Feature::Citations). You can cite references in standard Pandoc syntax without third-party plugins.

Setting up a bibliography

  1. Open Settings → General, then scroll to the Citations section.
  2. Click Select Bibliography… and pick a .bib (BibLaTeX) file.
  3. Select your citation style from five bundled CSL styles: APA, Chicago (author-date), MLA, IEEE, or Harvard.

Android note: Android copies the chosen .bib file into app storage because Android document pickers grant temporary content URIs. If you modify your bibliography file outside Tessamark, select the file again in settings to update the cached entries.

In your notes, write citations using square bracket syntax: [@knuth1984] or [@knuth1984, p. 25]. Tessamark renders in-text references and appends a formatted bibliography list at the bottom of the preview and exported output.
