First launch
When you start Tessamark without a document, it displays the start screen. You can draft an immediate note, pick an individual file, or choose an entire folder to work in.
The screen also remembers your recent files and workspaces. If a folder has moved, Tessamark keeps the record in place so you can point it to the new path without losing its history index.
- Launch Tessamark.
- Select New Document to begin typing in a scratch file.
- Or select Open Folder to choose a workspace.
Opening a folder as a workspace
A workspace is an ordinary folder on your file system. Tessamark creates no proprietary vault format and locks nothing behind a database.
Your notes remain plain .md text files on disk. You can open them in any text editor, move them with your file manager, or back them up with standard disk tools. As soon as a folder opens as a workspace, Tessamark records revisions automatically in a background shadow git repository inside the app's data directory (under history/). Nothing is added beside your notes unless folder sync is turned on in Settings, which creates only .mde/history/ sync packs.
- Choose the open workspace command for your system.
- Pick any folder on your storage drive.
- Browse your notes in the sidebar file tree.
Android Storage: On Android, workspaces live in the application's private storage area to allow standard POSIX file access and git version control without storage access framework slowdowns. You can import documents into your workspace using the import option on the start screen.
Creating, saving and renaming a note
You can create a document at any time. When you save an untitled note, Tessamark prompts you for a file name and path.
To rename an open note, save a copy with a new name using Save As, or rename the file directly in your workspace folder. Tessamark watches the directory on disk and refreshes the open buffer.
- Trigger New to start a blank note.
- Type your Markdown text into the editor.
- Trigger Save to commit the text to your file system.
Editor, preview and split view
Tessamark provides three reading and editing arrangements. You can focus purely on Markdown input, inspect styled output, or view both side by side.
In Split View, the preview pane scrolls in sync with your typing cursor, rendering headings, lists, tables, code blocks, and embedded equations in real time.
- Choose Editor to display the text input area alone.
- Choose Preview to inspect rendered HTML output.
- Choose Split View to show the raw Markdown and rendered preview side by side.
